As some of you have probably seen already, we have been adding new map markers to 0.9.8 "Kiwi". Now we are taking it a bit further on the way to de-clutter the map. With the introduction of "Toasts" we have implemented a way to unify the way notifications work in Exile and asked add-on makers to switch over to the new system to offer a smooth in-game experience for the players. The new map markers we have added in Kiwi turned out to be a bit too yellowish and the map turned into a visual sunflower field.

After sitting down and re-thinking that, we came up with the conclusion that the yellow has to go away. Static map markers, that used to be yellow in the current version, will become more "visually muted", but stay informative. How did we do that? Well, we simply took the yellow away. Brilliant. Yay, us :)

Currently, Exile has only two small events built-in: Supply drops and abandoned safes. These are colored in an outstanding red, so you will notice them immediately. We are aware that there are add-ons for Exile that also use map markers for events, so we have added a small selection of markers for add-on builders to chose from. Same rule of thumb as for the Toasts: Please switch over to use them in the future, so we can achieve a nice map. If you feel there is a map marker missing, please leave a comment and we will see what we can do for you.

A BIG THANK YOU to @CraigusMcGooch for designing the map marker layout! Love you!

Please find a list of the new map markers below:

    • First Column
      • Trader City
      • Scuba Trader
      • Russian Roulette
      • Spawn Zone
      • Spec Ops Trader
    • Second Column
      • Boat Trader
      • Aircraft Trader
      • Concrete Mixer
      • Contaminated Zone
    • Third Column
      • Easy Mission (setMarkerType "ExileMissionEasyIcon")
      • Moderate Mission (setMarkerType "ExileMissionModerateIcon")
      • Difficult Mission (setMarkerType "ExileMissionDifficultIcon")
      • Expert Mission (setMarkerType "ExileMissionHardcoreIcon")
    • Forth Colum
      • Capture Point (setMarkerType "ExileMissionCapturePointIcon")
      • Stronghold (setMarkerType "ExileMissionStrongholdIcon")

Oh, and before we forget about that. We have added glasses and masks to the equipment trader, so you can wear your most-loved sunshades or a balaclava if you choose to. This also allowed us to add a new trader type, the Scuba trader. You will find Scuba traders on Tanoa next to boat traders, so you can either buy a water scooter or go full-stealth-mode. It also offers a completely new "world" of underwater missions!

Can write 6 paragrahs entailing future stuff but not write 1 sentence documenting each change done while deving the mod so that a proper changelog is done on a patch. gg rip thanks for following development standard

As someone who is also working on a "larger" scale project I can honestly say the community have no idea how difficult it is to note any changes that are relevant to players, "Added a fullstop to dialog text on traders" is not what players "need" to urgently know about.

The changes to poptabs were announced...

    The respect changes were announced....

The server owner changes were, wait for it, also announced!

If you look, you will find every change in the dev blog, Exile have always done a separate post for server owners, whats the big problem this time round? People forgotten how to search for things again?

Grab the 0.9.61 and 0.9.8 files. Do a diff and write the change logs until tomorrow. If you cannot manage to do that, please shut up. Thank you.

Congratulations! You just won a big nobody gives a flying fuck! Do you even read the dev blogs at all or do you just like complaining? Either way, good job at following proper English punctuation, sentence structure, and douche etiquette. I will now leave you with a quote, "gg rip". ;)

You see, this change actually required some collaboration and brainstorming with community members. It was a change worthy of noting since it standardizes a practice (creating map markers), just like "Toasts" standardized notifications.

You'll see that all major changes are announced well ahead of time.

However, the Exile devs go through so much code, that even a single day's worth of changes would be annoying and extensive to write. If they were to release a changelog that describes every single change with a sentence, you'd probably end up looking at it so long that you'll get nightmares of rogue bullet points hitting you in the head. Do you think anybody will bother sitting through and reading everything? Then why bother writing it?

I know that the devs were sick about even thinking about ArmA by the time this patch released, they worked very hard on it. Do you think that any of them wanted, even in the slightest, to go and make a changelog a mile long that nobody would read anyways? People want a TL;DR, and that's exactly what they have provided.

Not to mention, they do this for FREE. They spend their time working on making a mod for strangers they don't even know exist, instead of eating, drinking, sleeping and working for ACTUAL money. Not to mention the loss of sanity that comes when touching anything ArmA related.

Congrats, your failed request of a proper changelog made you look like an ungrateful, inconsiderate, and rude dumbass.

I hope you think about those players who prefer alternative map with white background and height lines. White markers will be not so good in this map mode. Please, switch to this mode and check new markers.

Does this mean missions are coming to Exile or is that for people running  mission systems on their servers such as DMS?

Aaaand how about underwater base building? :D

// Disable dropping items while swimming
    enableItemsDropping = 1;

seems to allow it. I added this so people could use charges on those half floating bases. A few guys built an underwater base, but apparently none of the objects could be moved after, and it took them about a week haha.

@Mr Sin I was referring to the markers. Traders work like a charm already ^_^
Should of maybe said markers instead of explaining the traders HAHA :gottarun:

My comments were not targeted at the exile team

@serveratze had made a marker for loot and I was hoping he would see the post ¬¬
The best magic trick is making people believe they have the best ideas. But my plan has failed,
so I will bow my head in shame and remove myself from this section of the forums

@EichiMarkers look grate.  One Thinks i have to told u. With the New Respect/trader System u have hero and bandits traders.  it would be grate if u add the markers cycle for the traders,  Like the missions markers.  with Red(bandit) and green(hero), Selm it would be nice for the missions markers.

So thats u can take normaln markers for all.

    Red cycle markers for bandits

and green cycle markers for heros

    in all cases (Mission,events,and traders)

    Im on my mobile.
