• Tanoa and APEX

    While we are testing our release candidate of the upcoming Exile version and our trial version of the mobile XM8 app, we would like to show some progress on our next officially supported Exile map: Tanoa.

    We are very excited about Tanoa, as we think it is the best terrain ever made for the whole Arma series. One can see and feel that Tanoa was made with all the different game modes of Arma in mind, which results in a superb addition to the complete Arma community. Especially that the diversity of the terrain and extreme altitude differences will introduce a completely new game-play experience.

    With our first support of Altis a year ago (wow!), most players where stunned by the trader cities we offered, saying "they feel alive". We have tried to top this feeling on Tanoa. Did we succeed? You decide!

    And before you ask: Yes, we will offer a mission file for Tanoa and implement the new vehicles, weapons and uniforms. But we are still discussing this with Bohemia Interactive, since the APEX DLC will only be available for the players who have bought it. If we need to patch APEX content - eg. adjusting vehicle capacity - we would need to require APEX and Exile would stop working on non-APEX installations. We would like to prevent that, so non-APEX users can continue playing.

    If we need to patch APEX content - eg. adjusting vehicle capacity - we would need to require APEX and Exile would stop working on non-APEX installations. We would like to prevent that, so non-APEX users can continue playing.

    Don't ever require Apex to play Exile. Not everyone will buy it (I did) but that would limit the player base. Let non-Apex owners continue to play Exile and use Apex assets in Tanoa exclusively, please.

    Something else I should note: A lot of the players coming to my server lately have been regular Arma 3 players that have never played Exile. They have a3launcher and found the server and clicked on it, downloading the required mods. Requiring them to have Apex would seriously be "cutting off your nose to spite your face" as they say.

    As written, we are discussing this with Bohemia. If the DLC or at least the config is not available to non-APEX users, mods will not be able to patch that without requiring APEX. And we do not want to require APEX. Period ;)

    But make this for the Apex users..... if u make this for the non-tanoa members where is the feeling the have something special ??? well it will be gone.....

    Just make this update for those who have bought Tanoa and give them the feeling there special........

    And if u guys can fix it that non-tanoa users can use this why shall anyone even buy tanoa ?????? because they will download Exile and get the content where tanoa users for paid for free...........

    I'm going to make it really simple for you guys to understand this.

    Tanoa is a DLC for Apex from Arma 3. Without Apex you cannot play Tanoa. Completely out of our hands however the users that decided to buy the DLC will have access to Tanoa and our work on the map.

    I can't help but think that the man squatting on the rocks in the first image looks like he might be having a poo.

    Looks very nice, im also very happy that you have decided to include the mission file in the server files, that will make setting it up for myself and others a whole lot easier. Again, nice work guys!

    You placed some traders. Astonishing.

    Can you make Houses enterable like on Namalsk or isn't this going to happen, because it's an official map and not a fan/modder- map

    Am I correct in gathering that as an "expansion" rather than a "DLC", APEX/Tanoa is handled differently from the Helicopters DLC? The Huron and Taru seem to work with Exile without requiring everyone to have them. It appears people can currently check out the APEX weapons/vehicles in the virtual arsenal/garage even if they haven't purchased the expansion. That would be consistent with the Helicopters DLC, but I suppose it may change on release.

    Everything Tanoa and its assets will be locked to APEX owners.

    Clothing/Weapons/Vehicles and the like will be available to all players in the usual manner (Virtual Garage/Arsenal, useable in the game with restrictions (watermark overlay, no crew positions)).
