We are also adding two new melee weapons.  The sledgehammer can be used to breakdown shipping containers for Junk Metal.  The larger the shipping container the more Junk Metal you will receive but it will take more swings.  The Sledgehammer and the Pop Tab Pouch were done by developer @Niuva

My concern with the sledge hammer is the ability to hit up a dock or industrial area with lots of containers and players just spending an hour destroying every container, farming the pop tabs. Is durability something you guys are looking at implementing? In other words, a tool such as the sledgehammer, the axe, the shovel, lasts only so long before it's no longer usable?

This is a valid concern. Perhaps limiting it to a select few containers could nullify the farming to an extent..?

The number of hits required increases with the volume of the container. The largest containers can take up to 40 hits. If someone demolishes a whole harbor with that, he deserves the metal ;)

    Haha, a fair comment. :D

Thank you for all your hard work, dude! (and the rest of the team too!)

Dev time was spent making Arma 2 weapons? really?

@Psycho did the porting. What's the issue? Arma 3 lacks lower tier weaponry, it's been a major gripe of a lot of players for a long time. Now Exile has them. Problem solved.

Do you know how big the container in the video was? It didn't take too many hits for that one, which is what spawned my concern.

Because every large Exile server runs other mods, I guess this caters to those low pop *default* Exile servers.

Or it helps reduce the number of mods a server admin needs to run in order to have a wide selection of weapons. I hope the Exile team continues to add weapons that are already in other "addon" mods.

As @BetterDeadThanZed said, it just reduces the required mods if you're not interested in gigs and gigs of mod files for a handful of lower tier weaponry.

I mean I'm not complaining but I doubt they are going be able to keep up with the pace of CUP weapons for example.

Especially when large clothing addons like Cup Units, REQUIRES you to also have CUP weapons

the more items that are in vanilla Exile, the less need there will be for other additional mods. The only reason people run those mods is that nobody likes the default Arma 3 weapons.

Medal? Nah, this will be done frequently I figure.  40 hits takes less than 1 minute to accomplish (with current swing mechanics in Exile),  I could see whole docks being smashed to the ground every restart, especially on low pop servers.  20 containers = less than 20 minutes.  Depending on the net of junk metal out of them, this could add up fast....

If junk metal's mass is balanced properly, it would slow down farming.  I shouldn't be able to break down an entire container and put it in my Lada. Also I should be able to hear you pounding on that container from at least 1k away (maybe)  and come ruin your farm.

That is a pretty good idea. I have added this to our "to be evaluated" list.

    Thank you!
