[PROJECT] Chernarus+

Hello community,

The name is Dutchy, a 18 year old male from Holland and Map editing is what I do.
 

Chernarus+
I've decided to create a Apocalyptic version of Chernarus (Arma 3). I've been playing quite a bit of Exile and I've always missed the apocalyptic feeling, some scenery that needed to be added to give it that extra spice.

Whats guna be done
So what I got planned is editing the most popular/ major places in the map. This means editing the Major cities and Military places and also creating some of my own places. I'll be adding in a lot of vehicle wrecks, damaged buildings and abandoned military outposts/ checkpoints. So far I've done quite a bit of research on google to get some ideas and I think I've got a good picture in mind what I want to create. 

Places that will be edited Majorly :
All coastal areas (Kamenka / Kamarovo / Balota / Cherno / Prigorodki / Electro / Kamyshovo / Solnichniy / Nizhnoye / Berenzino)
All airfields (Balota AF / NW AF / NE AF)
Extra Militairy bases (Ill be looking at existing military camps in DayZ StandAlone)

And overall there will be small roadblocks, abandoned military checkpoints, survivor camps, vehicle wrecks and crash sites.

So far
So far I've only done a small piece of cherno: A piece of the main road in Cherno and a small camp in Cherno. Both are NOT finnished but they give a general idea of what I'm aiming at. Please give me feedback if you have any.

Disclaimer
I do not own Chernarus or any of the default map editing done in Chernarus. All I'm doing is adding Objects/ Vehicles/ Buildings/ Animals/ Etc.
So far I'd like to release the map edits to the public, meaning anyone can use it. This may change over time...

with all this objects would'nt it effeckt FPS major since there is alot of them? but hey that could also just be me :D 

otherwice it looks really cool it could fit into Exile environment.

Thanks Mezo and Kimse.

FPS is indeed a issue...

I will be doing a test run on a populated server when Cherno is finished and we'll have a look how much it affects the FPS.
I've played in the editor and don't notice any FPS changes, I'm still running at a constant 60fps+. But that might just be my pc.
My goal is to finish Cherno Friday/ Saturday.

Perhaps make a 'Lite' edition... if you will. I can see a lot of people being imterested in this however with that amount objects I can see even a server taking issue.

That's a great idea, I was thinking of doing something like this already because I can imagine 80 people on a server and say 15 of them are in Cherno it can most definitely cause issues.
I'll let you guys know after we've run the Cherno version on a server.

Been there done that and FPS drops are huge beginning from 1500+ objects. The best way to do it is remap whole cherno from scratch and it is insane. If you have alot of free time best thing you could do for A3 community is to make a map that would not depend on AiA or any other big mod for that matter. Upgrading ported maps is not the right way to do great things. It is like there is nothing we could for Taviana if we can't wipe out Sabina with all thousands of objects placed there. Meanwhile you could do some reading on map making subject and work with terrain for your new map.

I've decided to wait for TANOA and use its textures/objects since it would be better than another Altis like map.

By the way I still have that 21Mb sqf file named Chernoplus and 12 FPS is not right for any shooter game.

Sorry for the late reply, been busy with some other stuff ;)

First off, thanks for your reply IDanich! I've decided to "stop" with the project due to your and others's feedback. I understand that all these objects have a huge effect on the server and its performance. So the plan now is to create some smaller projects and release them to the public.

I'll be creating some Trader cities, Military outposts, Smaller traders and some small redo's of Airfields etc.
Tanoa is indeed a amazing map but thats like 6 months from now. I will be looking in creating my own map, who knows what I might create ;)

Thanks for you guys's feedback and keep an eye out because I'm currently busy with a Balota overhaul ( I will not put in to much objects, don't worrie ;) )
