Looking for someone to walk me through BE Filter issues & Installing of mods

14 posts in this topic

As previous topics state, I'm looking for someone to help me get to grips with the basics, i have the ideas that i would like in place but needing help executing them. I've attempted to learn the BE restrictions, but I'm not a person that can learn instantly off looking at a problem and having a solution.

If anyone is willing to guide me in the right direction with helpful advice it would be much appreciated.

Not looking for someone permanent as I would like to be able to do it myself and maintain the server to my spec i have, just need the guidance to start with.

Many Thanks.

I appreciate the links but as i've said, i've been through these myself and i've tried to resolve the problems but i find it alot easier with someone talking me through the process as i do it.

So you actually only learn from the teachers in your class, not from the books? Seems like a waste of money to buy books (ie. manuals) to me.

The links provided give you clear step-by-step solutions; if you master them, you master all. Not just what your teacher showed you.

"Oh, but this test's questions are completely different numbers, I can't do that, you never taught me !"

Google and youtube is your friend.. research first .. then ask questions if you get stuck installing a particular mod, script, but in the correct section .

You will need PBO Manager, and Notepad ++ before you even think about it !

Learn where your log files are, and how to view them..

Most mods have instructions step by step .. follow each step , and check twice, only install one thing at a time.. then backup .. get on the server and test . is it working  ? Yes .. then continue to next script/mod .. rinse and repeat..  nothing easy .. we all had to pay our dues..breaking shit is how you learn

So this is a no to you helping me? Could've saved the life story. Not everyone learns the same way. Try loosen up abit.

Also whilst on the subject I was told at school to ask a question if i didn't understand something mainly because I wouldn't be the only one having problems or wanting to ask that question.

Merry Christmas.

I've got a few mods already running, Exile, Missions, Roaming AI. But it's the getting the execution for the other mods i want i.e. RHS, TYRK. I know they need to go into the servers main folder names as what they are but do they contain all the PBOs that are needed? I just simply upload them into the main folder?

I have PBO, Note++

I know where the .cfg files are and where i can edit a few things, but i just need them clearing up so i can take notes for myself in a way i understand it and overall making it a more enjoyable experience for me.

Thanks for your reply much appreciated.

installing @mods is pretty easy.

install the mod on your computer using A3 launcher or whatever,

Copy the whole @mod folder as it is onto the base of your server (you should see @Exile and @ExileServer there)

Copy the bikey keys into the main keys folder for each mod you install (sometimes its in the mod sometimes you need to grab from website like with RHS).

you then start the mods in the command line - mine looks like this -

-mod=@Exile;@ASDG_JR;@hlcmods;@mas;@NATO_Rus_Vehicle;@RHSAFRF;@RHSUSAF;

They should then load, but make sure of what extra mods may be required (like CUP requires @CBA_A3).

The main pain for mods isn't getting them installed and running but adding to traders and loot tables.

I can help with traders as I posted this - http://exile.majormittens.co.uk/topic/8586-release-easy-trader-set-up/#comment-47961 but you just need the loot compiler to do the rest.

If you have issues then search and ask as most people on here are usually fairly gentle in how they reply and help and more people in the community means more people sharing ideas and work.

Maybe some people need a little more alcohol in their system to be nice than others do.

Red_Ned is correct .. for those .. and yes traders can be a pain .. but once you see how its pretty easy .. I like config based traders better than database.. easier to add and modify .. dont think exile has that option yet .. or if so haven't seen it ..but I could be mistaken ...

I followed these but having issues with the RHS keys. Got the TRYK on and seems to be ok (Baring in mind i havent added to traders yet, i want to get everything working before i add them to traders.) I downloaded the keys from the website and put them in the keys folder, but still getting the insert keys message on the server load up. I've probably just missed something but i've checked your steps a number of times to make sure.

I've also added the mods to my commandline @RHSAFRF;@RHSUSAF for example.

Sorry again to be a pain.
