The message

 

"___ killed her/his own teammate!" in English is better served by "___ killed their own teammate!"

 

As a side note, the original message would normally be written as "___ killed his/her own teammate!"

Using a plural pronoun (their) to refer to a singular noun (the player's name) is not grammatically correct; however, it is widely accepted and used by native English speakers.

That being said, I'm fine with the usage of "their" and say/write it all the time.
