Our server recently added Ghosthawks to the traders. I bought one and stored it on my base to test it out. I was aware of the problem with overlapping geometry of base components so I made sure there were no overlapping floors that it was parked on. When the server restarted it still blew up.
I know that Ghosthawks have problems partly due to having such a low ground clearance. But I think there is a little more to it than that. I also realize that Arma was never designed to have vehicles that persist through server restarts. I have personally seen all kinds of vehicles parked in our safe zone jump as high as 15-20 feet after a restart. I went over to our test server, which is available for use upon request (including limited infistar access) to test building designs and whatnot, and bought a bunch of ghosthawks and started building.
I built simple structures and stored 8 Ghosthawks on them. Then waited about 10 minutes and restarted the server (repeated multiple times). These were my results:
Before any server restarts
After the first restart, both of these exploded helicopters appeared to have sunk into the flooring a little bit.
After the second restart, even though the tail of this heli had sunk into the flooring after the first restart, it survived the second restart without issue (still sunk into flooring).
After the third restart,
As you can see, there were no issues after the first restart. I have no idea why that is, I even tried getting in and flying around a couple of them between the second and third restarts.
Hopefully somebody finds this useful. If anyone wishes to conduct similar testing on our test server, just message me and I can send you the info.
