Ghostbuck 3 Report post Posted August 19, 2016 Hell Exile Community, I am trying to setup my first Exile Server for me and my friends. I have vanilla exile running without issue and have found how to edit the configurations. What I would like to do is add some custom missions on the map. I am having trouble opening the exile altis mission from my server in the 3d editor. I have PBO Manager installed and extracted the contents to Exile.Altis. I have moved the extracted files to the Documents Profile mpmissions directory. When I open up the mission in the 3d editor, there is nothing in it. There are no markers, traders, safe zones, etc... I also have the 3den plugin and when I check the init file or the files to save from the Exile mission, they are empty (or mostly empty). Am I taking the correct approach trying to add custom missions to my exile server? Thanks!

There is no way to import any missions from arma into exile as far as i know! But u could take a look at DMS, thats what u need to add custom missions! But u need to forget about any scripted mission in exile, they wont work! Use DMS to place ur custom missions, it works like a charm! cheers
Z80CPU 527 Report post Posted August 20, 2016 Hello, I am not sure what Mr. Lemon is talking about. 'No custom missions, but use DMS'??? DMS IS a custom mission! There are some 'markers' contained within the mission.sqm file and you can pull the exile mission.sqm file into the apex editor without issues. Just save it back as a NON-binary file and then you can use any text editor to view/edit the file. There are several 3rd party add-on missions and DMS is one. You also have VEMF too. Both are pretty decent. These types of missions typically are spilt between the exile server pbo folder and the mission folder. Exile Add-ons: HERE Exile Scripts: HERE You can also use MCC4 as well with exile. MCC4 can be use with just about any SP/MP mission and you can make a good mission <5 minutes with no knowledge of scripting required! You CAN also create your own if you have the skill/knowledge to do such. You CAN also put them into the mission.sqm file too as I have done. I put in a heli transport from one airport to another as well as a 'ferry' transport on the Tanoa map. It CAN be done! Good luck to ya!

I found this: I know you gave some other suggestions that I will look into. Does M3Editor also allow me to create custom missions? The tutorial video seemed to show you could use it for setting up traders. I would assume you can also use it for custom missions. I also reviewed the links, looks like there are several good examples.

Z80CPU 527 Report post Posted August 20, 2016 Hello, Well, do keep this in mind: All of us here, started knowing NOTHING. Sometimes, people forget that fact... Based on your question, I would assume you have limited experience with creating missions for MP or even maybe in SP too. Reason I state this is, you can pull in the exile mission file and create missions with it in the apex editor, as I told you I have done. And the apex editor is everything the M3 does and a hundreds times more! M3 was the 'editor of choice' BEFORE the apex update. Before then, the arma editor was 2d only and M3 was the only 3d editor for object placement. I would recommend using the 'pre-built' missions that I provided you in those three links and then, practice/learn how to create your own missions. It takes time and it cannot be explained how to make/create your own missions here. Here is a link that can 'point' you in that direction: HERE Take those 'pre-built' missions scripts apart and see what makes them 'tick'. You will soon see, there is a lot inside of them! As far as the exile 3eden thing goes, while I have never used it, I do not think you can 'create' missions with it. I think it is an object placer and allows you to create/modify traders and that is basically it. In the time you have taken creating and reading these posts, you could have installed and been playing those 'pre-built' missions. Remember the old saying: "Do not re-invent the wheel". Thank you and you are correct, I have no experience with the editor. I hope my response to your initial thread didn't seem like I was not listening, I was downloading those missions and messing around with the scripts. I just meant I also came across that M3 Editor thread and thought it was an additional tool to use. Appreciate all the help!
Z80CPU 527 Report post Posted August 21, 2016 Hello, You're more than welcome! Like I said, we ALL started off knowing NOTHING! Best thing I would suggest is to create a mission or two in the editor for SP with the 'men' on 'your side' and watch what they do. This will provide some insight as what is and what aint going on. Also, there are MANY tutorials on mission creation. Granted, some of them are for OFP/ARMA/ARMA2, BUT, you can still learn from them. Some techniques used in OFP are still valid today! Also, another 'good thing', is to download other people's missions and 'unzip' them to see how they got them to work. The EASIEST thing to do now and allows you to play and 'learn on the side', is to use those 'pre-built' missions and/or MMC4. Good luck and have fun!
