CentOS 7 Help

Hi i was wondering if anyone could help me, im currently using Windows Server R2 2012 as OS, im looking to change to CentOS due to fact Windows Updates and restarts every now and again are kinda getting annoying, i was thinking of changing to CentOS due to fact no restart for updates and better server uptime, my question is, im kinda stuck on the crontab for arma 3 server, eg use built in server restarter for exile for restarts every 4 hours and having crontab kick in again, but i have no idea how to approach this. I see there is a few crontab on forum, but kinda goes over my head eg, running it on root/user etc so it works. Any help would be good.

You are better off sticking to Windows

You can easily enough disable windows update in the windows update settings.

i disagree, i run linux (debian 8) and the servers run very well if not better in my opinion

Sorry been at the arma game long time.
Linux Support is very poor & the performance is nowhere the same and you will be lucky when BIS doesn't break Linux HC.
Nothing todo with the OS, just BIS don't put much man hours to improving the linux server version.

You will notice alot higher CPS till you get afew players at which point it will drop like a stone.
Basically you will have worse performance than the same machine running Windows.

Not to mention there are several things broken in Linux or not supported at all like hyperthreading.
Or the ability to change out the memory allocator via LD_PRELOAD, which would be nice to add support for Transparent Huge Pages.
The best you can do with customize the memory allocator is adjust the enviroment variables to change its settings.


edit:
The only reason to run linux server with Arma is to save some money from not having to rent Windows Server OS.

Well i have my own Windows Server R2 2012 Standard key... but was looking to run CentOS as i want to run other stuff on the box, eg arma3, teamspeak,  znc, and ither stuff, website wont be on it though...
