i think the hieroglyph takes more then 1 letter inside the unicode UTF-7 so its count as 1 letter but in the background its are 4 letters

in UTF-7 
A–Z a–z 0–9'(),./:?-  !"#$%&*;<=>@[]^_`{|}  = 1 letter

all other symbols (ASCII) will be like this code  0x40 or 0x7D and count as 4 letters
