Eichi 4505 Report post Posted July 7, 2016 This is dedicated to @Grim, @Vishpala, @Niuva, @MrWhite and @Zigga. A year of "moments" I have SO MANY screenshots of random Exile development shit - it is worth posting that Did you know that the first code name of Exile was "Altis Mortalis"? HORRIBLE! And it had a horrible HUD, too! So we started changing that: At this point I had no idea what I was doing. But yeah, you know the result Also, the XM8 ("Ex-Mate") did not look as that cool in the beginning: And yeah, you know. Developers be developers. And we still do this crap today I also remember how baaaad I was cursing when doing the trader system. Remember that? I have never used to many badwords before, I believe. And Grim, you remember your birthday where 7000+ people congratulated you? And someone remembers this? This is how the first version of the PIN locks looked like: And just for the record: This screenshot is from the 1st of August 2015. Proof for Goopy the Landfish!! In mid August, Grim and I were trying to spawn vehicles on the map with a good distribution. Spawning them near cities would end up in vehicle stacks, so we tried a "grid distribution approach" that is still in use today. Version without using a grid: Testing different grid sizes: And Grim made this super awful stunt in the animation viewer. We have stopped questioning Arma a loooooooong time ago: And this is the first official release screenshot on the 24th of August 2015! And on the 26th of August 2015, Landfish are still present! And does someone remember this Arma stupidity with the backpacks in the Ocean? They have been EVERYWHERE! Ladies and Gentlemen, this is how high loot looks like! Also, If someone ever wants us to prevent vehicles from exploding in Arma. Sorry, they explode for no reason. Even if they have god mode, destruction type set to "no no" and are lifted 5km into the air! 10/10 totally would buy And yeah, you probably now the following. But we have solution for that now. Yes, now. Took us sometime. Priorities, you know? Oh lord, does someone remember the first gambling machine? The "Twinkle Twister 2000"? It was soooo awful, that it now turned into the "Sloth Machine". We hope that at least someone gets the joke. I also remember the "good old times" where we had a queue of players in front of our development server during a Release Candidate test. Now its like... a four slot server does the job And yes, this is a safe zone. Not so safe. But safe. And things always went well on the first attempt. Take a look at this. Legit vehicle. We never wanted to go big. It looks like we became a bigger than expected. But these. These are some big things! Oh, and by the way. You remember the awful axe swing animation where we wasted three animators, two industry prof's and months of try and error on it? Yeah. Works now. And this one. This is a running gag by Bohemia Interactive (Don't hate me guys!). In one version the Hatchbacks work great, in the next they break again, then they work for a while and yeah, they still don't work: But nobody cannot say we are not testing good enough. We do! We even tested shooting Cessnas with a 6.5 caliber and spawned turtles everywhere! Also, explosions were kind of important. Because we like them. There is a reason we called it "Big Momma". Believe it or not. The physics simulation is outstanding. Even a floating tank will sink at some time. But they tend to do this when you need them to float the most. For example when you jump of a bridge on Taviana with them. And I think it was in the beginning of this year, where Grim allowed me to become... a developer Oh, do you guys remember Namalsk? It is now kind of screwed by the "Visual Update" of Arma and the author seems to be on a sabbatical year. Remember people saying we wasted too much time on that? Yeah, I have to admit that especially I wasted so many days on that. Both of them. But what should I say? The ground clutter needed some optimization. Also the water. Eeeww, the water! Well, everything needed optimization. The sky, the buildings, the ground textures. Everything. Before, the ground textures were meh.. but some time (and dollars) later, they started to look quite okay: You also remember the fanboy re-making Namalsk in Minecraft? And yes, Arma never fails to entertain us! Physical pop tabs. You can't imagine the PAIN re-doing the default inventory GUI of Arma. Do NOT ask! Ohh, we are very close to the present! (No, players, you have not seen this, No no no!) This loading screen. Grim, remember you mentioned I was not cursing so bad since the trader system? Right... Remember I said "If someone says 'There are too few objects in Exile! There is nothing to build!' I will kill that guy!"? Wait for it. And after at least a year of development, people still cannot pronounce my name Oh, yeah, and for all the haters: Love you, guys! And for all the others - I hope you enjoyed that! I have posted only a few of them for now..

Niuva 17 Report post Posted July 8, 2016 7 hours ago, Eichi said: And after at least a year of development, people still cannot pronounce my name I don't even know if I pronounce yours right. Oh well, I've got the same problem. People call me "Nueva" instead of "Niuva" My earliest memory of Exile is when you handed over the wooden construction pieces for me to double check for any fixes or errors. I couldn't really find anything wrong and was baffled that a person who had zero experience with modeling whipped them together. <3
