BASE RAID - suggestion and opinion question

Me and my team played Dayz 1000+ hrs, arma 2 mod 1000+ hrs, and now we play arma 3 exile for cca 600+ hrs.

We love to build bases :-) and we sure dont have a problem with someone atacking us and raiding our base, exception is when someone atacks our base when nobody of our clan is online. We have this "in clan rule" to never attack a base if the owners are not online, because it doesn't make sense to me to attack something that has nobody to defend it. And it is much more fun to first kill the defenders and than to drop in with helicopters or do some other action movie stuff :-)

 

I wanted to suggest to make the base "invincible" when owners are offline, but than probably players would abuse that and combat log when somebody would attack them...

So i am looking forward to see the poll results, and get the info how you feel about unprotected base raids :-)

I agree with what you say however I can tell you that the vast majority of base raids will always occur when there is nobody around to defend the base unless they are made invulnerable when the people on the flag pole are offline.

Most base raids are done by arseholes who get upset when they get their arses handed to them in a fire fight. They then extract revenge by waiting for the people that gave them an ass whooping to go offline and then pay their base a visit and do as much damage as possible. Ironically its usually the Pv Er's that do it who claim they don't want confrontation as they are the ones that take the pip when some one is audacious enough to shoot them in a shootie game.

I have posted this before but the best way to protect a base and allow legitimate combat raiding is to do away with door locks, grant access to doors via the XM8. Any player that has access to the doors is considered a base occupier. The base is vulnerable during a server rotation if any occupier is online. Once the server restarts it becomes invulnerable if there are no occupiers online in that rotation.

This system keeps the people that want their base to be safe when they are asleep or at work happy. It keeps the players that want to engage enemy players at their base and raid it happy.  It prevents people logging off to protect their base if they are attacked as the base does not become invulnerable until restart and logging off just means their vulnerable base is undefended.  

In fact the only people that would object to this system are the sniveling little chicken shit pricks that wait until you got to bed to troll you by wrecking you base when you are not there.

well, for starters I would not like to have other people dictate what I can and can't do on a server in regards of regular playing. If baseraiding is only allowed when someone is online, it drastically reduces the playingstyle and playing possibilities of all other players on the server.

I agree, although these are good ideas and might be cool on some servers, a majority of the player base will be turned off to playing if they cant raid most of the bases at the times they play.
