Day/Night Vote system

8 posts in this topic

I think it would be cool if they implemented the voting system like they had on arma 2 epoch/overpoch. If it was daytime/nighttime and a majority wanted it to be the opposite time they would type "vote night" or "vote day" into chat and after 2 minutes or so majority vote wins and the time of day changes. I like it because it isn't the server owner that has to decide whether it is night or day, the players get what they want via voting system, they could also incorporate this into other things as well.

The voting system is terrible. In my opinion, a survival game needs nighttime and day/night-cycle. Arma 3 looks fanastic at night. The only thing worse than a voting system are servers with no night at all. Just 12 'o clock noon casual PVP all day, every day.. I voted night for 3-4 months every time on my old epoch serrver but it never ever happened.

With a voting system nobody cares to prepare for night so when the vote comes they vote no even if they usually like it. Nothing kills immersion like going back and forth between night and day like a disco. On servers where it was implemented in Epoch you never got the time to actually use the darkness. You geared up, travelled to a rivaling base to do a night attack but before you got to fire a shot it suddenly was full sun at noon again. with a voting system you get situations like that because it can turn night at any moment. You can't plan anything or use the darkness

With a day/night cycle players know night is coming in XX minutes and prepare accordingly with NVG's.

Problem is like Toolshed says: It will not work. You allways will have lets say 80% of all the players vote for day. So it is really better to set up the server as YOU want it to be. We have e.g. 2 hours day and 1 hour night. Then restart and so on.

Yes toolshed is Right. Im an old veteran from Way back when arma 2 dayz first came out and for me its just plain boring with Day only. I would never get nighttime if i could vote for it. But many players are afraid of darkness i guess an dont know what to do if they dont have NVG's. The server i play on has 3 hours restart where the last 45min is Night time and i Think its a perfect balance :)

I concur ,

I also added the restricted night vision script for my immersion

I guess a restriced NVG script could be a good idea when NVG's only cost 100 pop tabs. They should increase the cost to maybe 1000 pop tabs. So when you find a rare pair at the military base Then they are a huge asset for you and your teammembers

This is something that the server operators can deside and implement.

if it's something you want on the server you play on consider asking the owner.

The server I play on has limited night so works quite nicely.

What I would like to suggest is a readout in the XM8 of weather and time till night. Perhaps in the notifications as well.
