Creating a second database using Workbench?

5 posts in this topic

As a bit of a novice to the whole mysql thing i am having absolutely no luck at all creating a second database, i have tried a few methods i have come across on this forums but they appear to be pretty old.

The issue i am finding is every time i attempt to create a new connection in workbench it already has the original exile schematic there, if i remove it then it removes it from the original database aswell which is very frustrating, surely there must be a way to create a new blank connection with no schematics attached to it?

Also the other part that slightly confused me was about editing the exile.sql... it seems that the file has been changed since the original and there is only one mention of 'exile in there where it says:

--
-- Database: `exile`
--

Im assuming that is the only part you edit now or am i wrong?

Obviously before i can even think about dropping in a new exile.sql i need to somehow get a blank connection active some way, would be great is somebody could offer some help as this is extremely frustrating and ive pretty much exhausted google looking for a nice straight forward answer.

to start from scratch here: If this is not what you are trying to do, explain further.  I dont know what you mean by exiting the exile.sql, you can edit whatever you want that file just runs one query after another to insert the tables and data.

Creating an exilemod and a second exile database (you got this already but just to be clear)

now creating two connections, one to each database and logging in to demonstrate.

Just followed your vid, all sorted thank you very much for the help your a life saver!  What i was catching myself up with was the schema's on the left, wasnt sure how they quite worked but your vid was very descriptive and i now have two fully functioning databases which is excellent.

Thanks again for the help ShootingBlanks.
