If you were to add keys... (ideas/rant)

9 posts in this topic

If you were to add keys could you add something like an app in the xm8 or like a key chain so that if you double click a key it would beep your car (like it does now when you unlock/lock it) so that we know which key goes to which car and so on. I agree with the idea of having keys but please don't make them an annoyance. I would rather there be something were it saves your keys in like a menu when you press 7 and allows you to access them there, rather than them be in your actual inventory. And when you kill someone it drops their key chain, or you can scroll on them and click take key chain and so on. Obviously there are a ton of ways you guys can go about this, but I don't think the way that old arma 2 epoch did it is a good idea. The way you guys have done everything so far with the xm8 makes it very clean and organized for players and I am sure you guys will continue to show that throughout development. Thanks :)

This is an example of what I am saying. Say you press 7 and a menu like this appears.

My main issue is if someone gets hold of one of my Keys, my car will never be secure again. Even if I recover my car, and have a spare key, i know theres still some guy out there who can steal my car if he manages to find it again. You cant change the lock, or add a keycode etc, so thats it. Lose one key, your car becomes as good as gone.

I personally like that idea, but everyone has different opinions.

I dont like that its irreversible. If i have 2 keys and i lose 1, i might as well just throw that one away because my car will never be safe again.

If this is in reply to my post, I am not saying if a player kills you they shouldn't get your key, I am just saying to have an organized menu so it is easier than keeping the keys in your inventory. I still want players to drop their keys if killed.

No not at all,  just stating what I feel This mod is to the people still thinking it's Altis Life and the game is to become rich.

Vehicles aren't hard to come by,  why are we all scared about a locking system?

Do I need to pad the walls with wool so you don't get cuts too?

The game is whatever we want the game to be, and I like to have "some" security over the vehicles i pay tens of thousands for.  I like the idea of losing keys in battle and therefore losing your car, I just think if you lose a single set of your keys but have a spare, there should be a way to re-secure your vehicle should you manage to recover it.

THANK YOU! you my friend are awsome! people forget we are convicts, we supposed to loot, steal and kill. this is not the SIms, where the object is to have a successful life, owning the best shit, and having lots of poptabs... there needs to be more risk, (ie) stealing popstabs (or percentage of) on the person you kill, his/her fault for carrying it. Pop tabs should become more difficult to get, or top equipment should become more expensive.
