  1. It seems this has been asked a few times and not had a "real" answer, so I'm going to try and see if we can figure out a solution. Hollows Vehicle Pack seems to trigger Birds and the Bees to be installed / subscribed when using regular Arma 3 Launcher (not A3 Launcher). As a result, a lot of players are incorrectly downloading Birds and the Bees and being kicked. I'm assuming this is because a lot of the vehicles in HVP are repacked from other mods. The keys are different however. I want to try and figure out what exactly is causing the mismatch and how to adjust it. Otherwise this makes HVP completely unusable unless you have a way to communicate with players beforehand (and advise them not to load BATB). This was addressed in this thread as well: But was not answered. The "answer" was "go talk to A3 launcher", despite the problem not being with A3 launcher. There was an additional thread before that one which was closed, which also didn't have a solution. I'm hoping we can come up with a solution, or at least get me pointed in the right direction so BATB isn't flagged for download. Thanks in advance.
  2. I have been experiencing a very weird issue since I fired up the Exile server (even with Vanilla setup). Users are unable to join through A3 launcher - sort of. When just clicking "play", they get to the Exile loading screen and it just freezes. No progress bar, no change in text, it just doesn't go anywhere. Escaping and direct connecting from there connects just fine. Of course, the problem is, outside our immediate group of friends, no ones knows this and cannot connect to the server. Currently about 80% of our users can replicate this. I've checked my RPT up and down, and it the server does not even see them trying to connect. There is zero recognition of the player connecting. Connecting through the Steam Arma Launcher usually works fine. Since most of our traffic comes through A3 launcher this is drastically affecting population. Even our regulars are having difficulties getting in. My intuition makes me think it's our host for the dedicated server (OVH) since the connection seems to break before the server is even hit. However, I made sure their GAME firewall is turned off, as is Windows Firewall. I've done various troubleshooting, and cannot seem to find a resolution. I would even appreciate it if anyone tried to replicate the problem and could provide their IP/time they tried to connect and were "frozen" at the loading screen, so I can report the time of connection errors to OVH.   3. So I'm trying something different, but very basic. I want to take a separate app from the pre-packaged "info" app, to make things a little more categorized. Basically, it would just display text that says "Donate" with our URL to donate to our server. Pretty simple. I've got the icon showing in the XM8, and can click it, but its display is completely blank. I'm not really sure where I've gone wrong. I was hoping someone could see what I'm missing: onOpen.sqf: message.sqf config.cpp I'm just familiar enough to make the pre-made apps work, and I thought this would be pretty easy, but the page keeps showing up blank Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Figured it out. OVH was the problem. I had to turn their firewall ON, and set the rules to "other". That fixed it. Gosh dang hosting companies...

    I seem to having some trouble reducing the number of demon spawns. I want them to be a pretty rare occurrence, but even after making the % extremely low, they still seem to spawn frequently. If my math is correct, medium mix should have a 0.21% chance of spawning a demon, medium mil is 0.16% and medium mix is 0.45%. No matter how much I raise the other values (such as slowcivilians) they seem to spawn just as frequently. Has anyone had success reducing the number of spawns? I'd like them to be so rare that people doubt their existence.

    Sadly this did not resolve it. Users are still unable to get in through A3 and get "frozen" at the loading screen. Waiting for either more advice or a response from OVH =/

    Got it. Referenced your earlier post last year and now I get with you meant by "For every one of those lines, you need to add something to your mission.sqm "addons" section." That has been fixed now. We'll see if there's any dice with players getting in. I doubt it unfortunately, but I will report back this afternoon (in US).

    For the record sean, only my admins could get in to start, and that was because of the GAME firewall. Disabling that allowed at least some to get in after multiple attempts. Okay. So everything listed under exileserver > addons basically. Got it. i'll add them all and make sure it's cleared up first and go from there. Do I add them to EVERY line for addons, or just the top two? (sorry for the dumb question, but I want to make sure I get this right).     Do you think that the error listed here would really cause that? I can definitely adjust the mission. Should the mission addons section contain every addon? Here is my current mission: http://pastebin.com/dR1PyWdX I would be fucking stoked if that fixes it, but it would be strange then that those instances of players trying connect don't even hit the RPT.

    Any idea how to get driver-based "gunner" positions working? I cannot get the pawnee or the hellcat/orca armed to rearm. Getting " you have now to enter as gunner - rearm denied!" but since there isn't a gunner...

    The answer in the thread was speculative. Also, "take it to A3Launcher. Google, your friend" is not exactly an answer. What you outlined here makes much more sense, is clear and concise. The other thread definitely did not say that. Also , as I said, it's Arma's launcher detecting the BATB not A3 Launcher, which is another reason why that answer didn't make sense originally. It sounds like this thread can be closed. Solution: There isn't one. Approach Hollow or don't use the mod.
  16. Thanks for the explanation of how they work. Now I could just use some help figuring out why the page for info is showing up blank and why %1 isn't calling the url. I have both message.sqf and the onOpen.sqf set exactly as listed above for testing with no results. Has anyone managed to create a "clickable" link through the XM8?
  17. Thanks for the info! Been trying to figure out how to do this for some time. Could explain how %1 calls the link? I've followed the directions above (with no other changes) and am not getting an output from %1 at all. The info page is just blank.

  19. First, GREAT work - I'm super excited to have this on our server! I am having difficulties with the XM8 App section (which is funny, because it's very similar to the original XM8 app). Per instructions: It works fine with one app, but when I add two, it fails.     Napf Island A3

    So, is A3 just the accepted way to get the most up-to-date map for NAPF now? The other links originally posted are dead. Just want to make sure I have the most updated version before plugging along Also, quoting you from below. Did you meant to say one needs to add the aif_NapfObjects.pbo in order for this to run properly? What's the advantage/disadvantage? Also, if I just added in/adjusted the NAPF map from A3 Launcher, wouldn't that require everyone else to have the custom map as well?

    Esseker Fuck Up

    I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I figured someone should post this somewhere, as it took our guys a little while to figure it out. Today A3 Launcher/Steam have included Esseker in the "subscription" type of mods. For this reason, it will automatically update it's clients to the latest version. Over all, this wouldn't be a bad concept, except that today they f-ed up. Big. They "updated" everyone to 7.0.3 instead of the current version which is 7.0.5. For this reason, if you notice a ton of people getting kicked, or cannot join your server, it's because A3 Launcher/Steam Workshop has automatically "updated" them to the old version. To resolved this whole fiasco, you can "update" your server to the old version using only A3 Launcher. As it currently appears it is not showing on Steam Workshop (more problems). Things get worse. The current version that is connected with A3 Launcher, and Steam Workshop (7.0.3) does not include any server keys. So, all in all, if you want folks to be able to play, you have downgrade your server version to 7.0.3. and find the keys for that version of Esseker somewhere since they were not included with this download. If anyone has found a resolution, or can like to the 7.0.3. server keys, it would be greatly appreciated.
  22. Okay, I feel really, really dumb asking this. I've been running our server for almost two months now, but oddly enough haven't run into this yet. We recently switched to CUP Terrain from AIA. CUP Terrain mods have spaces in their names. What is the proper syntax for launching with these mods (that contain spaces)? I feel that this is the culprit of A3 Launcher/Steam not recognizing that CUP Terrain Maps/Core is required on our server (because I changed the mod names to include "_"). Thanks in advance!     Interesting. It looks to me like the code above is identical minus the last part. I'll try playing around with it in the coming days and let you know.
