NBG - Tanoa US

As far as connections go this is a solid server for anyone on the east coast, frequent restarts and a really nice mix or gear and vehicles.  Unfortunately that is where the positives stop.  (Skip to last paragraph for the final thoughts)

While I am newer to exile then most (2 months game time) I made this account purely to leave this review.  I've been on this server for about three weeks with several friends.  Over our time there we have seen people come and go, but a constant was a single group of players, who never talked, never chatted in side chat, and never played friendly (This included new spawns).  Known as the "Phantom Squad" they pretty much owned the server.  Then a something happened.  We returned to our base to find some guys attempting a break in, we dispatched them and saw their names...it was one of the admins.  Knowing them kinda, I messaged the one named Patrick and asked if it was him. He reluctantly said yeah and that he didn't know it was our base (Having been relatively friendly with the Admins for a while) Some deaths on both sides occurred vehicles were blown up and for the most part it was even. Dispite this the other Admin Kaboose continued to snipe while Patrick ran around like a chicken with his head cut off.  After a few hours my team was getting sick of literally going to "war" with the admins, and as anyone who plays server-based games...Admins always win.  Sure enough the guys who sit afk all day long in the trader city suddenly were kitted up with everything from Lapua Magnum to the Chopper that continued to rain minigun fire down on us for over two hours.(It was also convenient that just the day before Patrick confiscated the Titan Launcher and its ammo from us, to stop us from shooting down annoying choppers)  Eventually my team got offline because, well they have lives? Resulting in my final death, only to watch on as our base was satchel charged...Now don't get me wrong I know how the game is meant to be played, that is why I play it...but to find out that the Admins are the same guys as the "Phantom Squad" who are known for "owning" and killing everyone actually  being the ones to own the server kinda pissed me off.  Now I have no proof that they cheated, but its a fairly large coincidence if they aren't.  

In the end it was made clear by the "admins" that if you do not play the way they want you to...ie let them walk into your base and steal your flag.  They will pull out their big bad admin abilities and stomp your face in.  As of this review I and my group of 7 are finding a different server.  And I can't recommend it to anyone who wants to play on a "fair" or long term server.  The only way I would ever suggest this community is if 1. There staff changed or 2. Their Staff was held accountable and not allowed to give themselves an unfair advantage.   All in all the Admins (at least for Arma 3) were more like spoiled children playing with their new toys mommy and daddy gave them, then Administrators of a gaming server.

I've played on this server for a few weeks now, and in these weeks the changes that have been made to the server have been superb. Admins seem very open to suggestion whether you message them on Discord or in game when they are on. They are constantly looking to improve the quality of the server and the experience that players have while online, and get to peoples issues to resolve them fairly quick. I've seen a lot of players complaining about admin abuse, but in 9/10 conversations that have occurred with this people just seem to reference how its happened on other servers so its probably happening here. 

Here are a few examples of things admins have done at player request to improve the server...

1 - Originally there were not view distance controls in the XM8, several players suggested that by adding this it might help bring up peoples FPS and bring more people to the server. Within a day or 2 that functionality was added.

2 - People have been complaining about admin abuse, so someone suggested that when admins are logged in with admin powers they simply have a separate tag to show when they have such powers. Example as given by admins... 
If tag [NGB Admin] > They are logged into Administrative powers
If no tag > They are regular player. ( Logged put of admin tools )

Kaboose even linked log evidence of this being true to ease peoples minds and they STILL COMPLAINED.

3 - Recently added in shipwrecks and extended base build mod. Incidents arose from both of these things being implemented also, but were swiftly addressed, and heres how.

• The rule of no combat within 500m of safezone exists, but sometimes shipwreck crates spawn within this limit, they are looking into preventing them from spawning within the zone to remove any confusion to the rules.
• Some of the buildings within the extended base mod apparently are indestructible and one of the players brought it to the attention of the admin, they sat down with him or at least took his post into account and removed said buildings and are doing more testing to see if any other building types need to be removed.

All in all I think you get complaints from players a lot of times when they die to it being "fishy" and with admins it happens even more, because people wanna complain just to complain. I don't actually think that its an issue with this server. Helpful admins, some douche players, but overall I like the server a lot and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to call home.

This server is so bad.... Because

1. Admin Abuse, they use their power just teleport when you see a admin and then poof they behind you or with heli just poof out of nothing not even hearing it coming towards ya it just flying above your head.... was on a mission and i know admin was as well he change weather so fast it was sunny first then boom rain and thick fog after it he already looted the crate and boom it was all clear like nothing happened and i was gonna check crate and nothing was in it anymore... When you finally build up your base fully with concrete walls and stuff Admins just go inside your base or blow a hole into it and steal flag 5 times already yeah yeah really nice...

2. Lie and deny that they did something wrong try tell head admin and he did something later they was doing it again and seems nothing got solved....

3. Pretty hard core lag when they abuse the power never will return towards that server done with sick people like that also admin has fully base concreted walls and all but if you got it beware they will destroy it fast also when you're good they can't stand losing so they cheat their ways in with admin abuse...

UPDATE: I have to say that I stayed in the server and all the problems I reported where corrected, server is doing great now, admins are great now and no more issues needs to be reported. So, give this guys a second chance and come to NBG Server so I can kill you :P. 

Can't change the stars but right now is a 4 of 5.

We where having a great time till we found out that admins use their powers against players. So admins have their base all made of concrete, on top of a big industrial place, and they spend their in game time shooting people from there. That's not a crime I know, the problem is that they always know your exact position.

The other night they admins were raiding other players base and we got there and blew up their vehicle and I managed to kill one of the admins, this was at night time, the closest spawn point was about 7-10 mins run, he came back in 3 mins fully geared and of course to my position, he shot me from behind. (I was hiding in a bush, without shooting and it was pitch black) Oh well, it was suspicious but I said GG.

Yesterday, me and my team arrived to their base and I was prone behind a hill without peeking or shooting, the never had sight on me, I was just waiting for them to open one of their windows. But as soon as he opened that window he knew my exact position and killed me with one shot.

So, sadly me and my team are moving to a different server, there are being a lot of complaining about admins abuse and we just witnessed some of this during these days.

The server has potential to be good, the foundations for a smooth and interesting server are there - but in its current state the administration and staff team is sub-par at best, and it permeates into the enjoyment of everyone on the server. How can I be sure my time spent on the server is well invested? Who wants to play on a server with cheaters?

+Good FPS serverwide

+Interesting missions

+Trader prices are different

-Restrictive building rules

-Gunships are available for an extremely high price, which means that the proper counters to them don't exist very often. (This in turn means an unbalanced server, just because you can take out the pilot in a gunship with a .50 does not mean the .50 is a viable counter to that ordnance) To make the situation worse, radar is enabled on them.

Either:

1) Remove the gunships and tanks altogether

2) Make the counters to gunships and tanks more common, perhaps purchased in the trader (it should be noted that gunships and tanks should not be treated as a counter to themselves, in this scenario things get clusterfucky) 

Obviously if you have to tell people to rate the server positive to mask the bad ratings something isn't correct. 

Just because an admin has to log into their admin account to have access to tools literally does not mean they can't still abuse. Obviously if you were a rouge admin you wouldn't want to get caught red handed outright. If you do not pay your admins to administrate the server, that means they are not impartial to the job, therefore abuse happens pretty regularly, as being an admin isn't really a paid job anyway.

You can have the most pure intentions in the world, but those intentions don't mean shit if action isn't taken.

Ill change my review in time if the server cleans up its act.

Edit: Turns out the abuse goes all the way up the fucking chain of command: the server is rotten to the core. Admin abuse will continue to happen, and they recently pulled the "Its our server" card in defense of the proof. In the following picture, Lonely was founded to be abusing admin powers and was "Suspended" from the moderator position. Apparently, this didn't happen - and it was only said to shut us up about it, even though they provided proof of their own that it abuse did indeed happen. 

Steer clear if you want a long-term home.

While some of the experiences of the previous reviews are accurate, my sense of fairness compels me write my own review. 

I found this server in January of this year and chose it from the A3 Launcher because of its fast ping and it offers admin support. I have continued to stay on the server (which is a free to play server but accepts donations) because I think this is a very well run server. The connection is reliable and content plenty and I've never had a bad experience with any Admin, whether past or current . I have generally found that the all of the admins, are pretty fair, professional, responsive and keep a constant dialogue with players listening to what they have to say.  And while the previous reviewers are accurate about one Admin who was corrupted by his powers, that ONE exception was publicly dealt with quickly and corrected in very transparent and open way. 

Frankly I don't want any more people on this server trying to shoot me. But my sense of justice compels me to attempt to bring some proper balance to the negative reviews.

This server is the first one I found that actually had everything I was looking for, active and fair admins, multiple missions and loot drops for some intense PVP action.  By far the most fun I've had on any server so far.  I have put in over 200 hours alone playing this specific server and I have had some of the most fun and ridiculous Arma moments, and the saltiest.  I guess there was an incident in the past about an admin abusing powers, but he has since been banned and the admins have been forthright and honest about the whole situation which is now fixed.  I could drone on and write a paragraph to complain or rant but I won't.  Don't let the couple negative reviews sway you, there are countless other players I have teamed up with on this server and had a blast while doing so.  Come check out NBG and let's kill some zombies! 

My crew of 11 so far enjoy the Neck Beard Gaming Tanoa server. It's nice to go back to a server that actually utilizes the respect system within the traders again. Some may find it a turn off to not be able to put a silencer on their weapon immediately after joining, but to that I say they have been spoiled. I really enjoy having to work for some of the cool stuff. I appreciate it more and when you lose those items it makes you want to get them back either by scavenging or PVP. 

The leaderboards for this server are phenomenal. Arguably the best leaderboards I have seen for an Arma 3 Exile server to date. (http://exile.neckbeardgaming.com/)

The server offers a hidden trader that will be moved from time to time. I find these type of elements of a server like that to be a lot of fun.

The missions are fun and abundant (recently increased I believe). 

The owner has been attentive to my crew both as a group and individually on numerous occasions. I really think they're trying to shake the "Bad Admin" monkey off their back due to what sounds like the actions of an admin they once had. 

There has been one questionable issue that involved an admin that we thought was using admin abilities to locate and track our movements,  however the admin in question was using a player account with no admin abilities loaded. A couple of my buddies were lighting up sidechat with an angry disposition and the server owner quickly got involved and maintained a professional demeanor though faced with a few angry players. This was greatly appreciated. Not many owners have that kind of patience. Through the sidechat conversation we suggested to avoid this type of accusation in the future the admin group could have NBG tags when they're admin loaded and no NBG tags when they're not, like many other successful servers. The very next day this system was implemented by the server owner.

I cannot speak to the negative reviews that NBG has received, but so far we are having a great time. I would recommend this server and have thus far.

Very enjoyable DayZ Exile Server to play on.

However there are a few things I want to note before people continue reading:

• No armed planes
• Gunships have no rockets

I have read all the reviews on this page so far. And all of them are negative. They are all about admin abuse. I'd like for you to know that admins want to play the game too. They can raid player bases as they please, use kill you as they please. For the person who showed the video of him being shot out of the blue, the guy wasn't an admin, and simply a hacker, report him on the discord. Also, when you got killed while it was pitch black and you were in a bush, they guy could have been using the "Special Purpose Helmet", which has thermals.

As of why I think that this server is good? Well, the admins are active and there to help you. They might not be in game, but they usually have at least one in the discord. The high loot makes getting a fair amount of tabs to start with no too hard, and you aren't always in pain when you die. Respect is a grind, but that's normal. The only problem that I've had is being mission camped, and even then, its not the server's fault, its on the camper.
