It seems to be hit and miss, this has been the only thing that has worked for my friends out of all the 'fixes' posted so far. Like I mentioned I always had this and never had issues, removed it and immediately crashed on joining a server. I wish you all luck in finding a fix.

Having -world empty removes this. I guess loading/unloading this when you join a server was causing the crash. Really I had no clue if it would work, we where willing to try anything and it so happens that it worked, although it might not work for everyone it worked for 3 people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Put this into the launch parameters, I never had a issue with crashing until I removed this. Has also worked for a few friends of mine. -world=empty

I know this is old, did you solve it? Perhaps in the mission.sqm the mission is set to start rainy. and every x interval changes to the predefined weather. Also check in the 'Sunny' config options that rain is set to 0.

Maybe a option for server owns to set physical or virtual? Perhaps there will be a mod for this, or even use the advanced banking system if it is such a issue. maybe even a % loss on death.
