just a horrible combination of slow CPU, hard drive and windows 10. The (un) perfect storm

It wasn't a quick PC anyway, but the combination of HD and Windows slowed everything down as far as loading times were concerned. We now run on SSD with CentOS 7.

Yep, the less said about GTX the better. We usually have between 5 and 10 players from all over Europe, and all report good ping and FPS. Also, our previous box was a windows 10 thing, which incredibly took nearly 10 minutes to lad arma to a playable state. Linux completes the startup / load territories, everything in less than 15 seconds.

We're running an exile server on an i5 2500k with 8gb ram running Linux, which sits in my room. It runs as almost as good as our previous rental with GTX for the small amount of players we have. I'm not sure what you'd need if you're looking to attract a lot of players though. Also, it means we have complete control and never have to wait for support. and apart from the small amount of power it uses, it's free once setup.
