We've recently reset and relaunched our own Exile survival server and opened it publicly. Having supported Exile with our own server(s) since launch, we've opted to reopen our private server (previously members only) to other players after a recent data reset.

We've changed the server environment to provide an atmospheric post-apocalyptic feel survival feel, with survival being much harder and game play being focused on the challenges the map presents such as the numerous areas where the infected roam, the weather, the struggle to find and maintain adequate supplies, bandits or even other players.  The server is largely a PvE server due to these enforced conditions and the servers current population, but PvP is allowed and encouraged.

Basically this server suits players who like to have a challenge in a survival environment, enjoy building and crafting as well as the occasional mission or random encounter!

    Features & Conditions

    • AI Missions
    • AI strongholds (Key areas of the map the AI hold or have bases with good loot!)
    • Advanced Vehicle Repair system (You need more than duct tape to fix your vehicles on our server!)
    • Towing (this is essential for rescuing stranded vehicles!)
    • Capture Point Missions
    • AI Patrols
    • Infected zones of the map, with Hoards spawning randomly across the map at any time. Infected wander from their zones and can be anywhere after dark!

    • Improved loot tables for better/more challenging looting
    • Custom XM8 Apps (Set view distances etc).
    • Survival journal!
    • Territory flags can't be stolen (this is purely to encourage more creative base building and prevent trolling)

    Rules
    Summary of rules:

    • No abusive, or threatening language.
    • No VOIP in side channel.
    • English only text in side channels.
    • No advertising of non-BSB community servers.
    • Do not give away player locations in side chat or publically on the map

    • Base maintenance must be paid within 10 days
    • Territory flags must be planted at least 900m away from the edge of a Player Spawn
    • Bases cannot bu built within 1000m (line of sight) Trader Zone.
    • Territory flags cannot be planted within 300m of high value or military loot spawns.
    • This includes hospitals, pharmasies, hotels, castle towers, barracks, or ruins. If a player territory is preventing loot spawning at a high value spawn it will be deleted.
    • No bases on bridges, blocking roads or "bottlenecks" preventing access to large areas of the map.
    • No structures are permitted to be built on roads as this prevents the AI from functioning as intented. Bases used to block or prevent physical access to regions of the map are not permitted either.
    • Do not glitch (or attempt to glitch) into bases.

    • Flags must be accissible. We do permit "floating" flags however at the moment.

    Support

    • Admin support requests are to be made via the forum only
    • We have a dedicated forum for problems or support requests, please use it. We try not to have too many admins active on the server to intentionally avoid accusations of admin abuse and therefore may not have an admin available immediately. We do however have instant notifications set up for our forum and can therefor your support requests stand a higher chance of being responded to quicker if they are reported correctly via the support forum!
    • No admin requests for ARMA/Exile related bugs
    • Arma is notroiusly buggy and issues such as loss of gear, damaged/lost/destroyed vehciles, warping inside of rocks, sudden deaths etc. are to be expected. It's ARMA! We will only investiage and correct issues directly related to OUR provision of the mod, i.e. issues that are caused by a problem with our server or as a result of a genuine techincal issue that is not inherintly bugged within the game.
    • Do not accuse admins of cheating
    • Our admins are specially selected and are all adults. Our community prides itself on our integrity and this is key to how we operate and we will not tolerate slanderous accusations made in spite or rage. Admins have varying levels privileges depending upon their role and of do not have their privileges active upon loading into the server, they must log in as an admin to active them and are required to log out of admin once finished. A notification is displayed to confirm this in-game. Admins are monitored by a team of people and no single individual is ultimately responsible or operates outside of transparency from our team.

    I love playing the server.

For me Bornholm is the best map i have played on by far. I'm very much a bandit player so its nice to see population rising although i would like to see that increase. Currently getting up to around 17/18 players on good nights so there is people for me to kill and the ai are quite challenging for the quiet times.

Some really good scripts on at the moment that i like and new ones coming soon, plenty of diversity in the ai missions as well as roving ai patrols.

    Thumbs up!!!!

For me the number one reason to stay on a server for a Work In Progress mod like Exile is having admins who actually play (fairly) so they can respond quickly to any problems, and know the bugs from a player's perspective - and don't just delete your base and ban you when you kill them too much like on some servers! The Badlands admins are pretty faultless in my experience.

The core group of players I see online are a pretty good bunch, most are active doing missions or whatever hoping for some PVP like I am, and will usually congratulate you on a good fair kill once the dust settles - exactly how a game should be.

The rules are pretty simple too, compared to a lot of servers I've played. Most stuff is handled by the game mechanics and you have a lot more room to be creative with things like base locations and fighting near traders. This means you can focus on actually playing rather than worrying if you're too close to XYZ at any given point.

The admins are also very good at announcing changes and updates on the website, and most importantly they are always happy to hear feedback about any aspect of the server - and several suggestions have been implemented in one way or another to improve everyone's game. For example the quantity and quality of roaming AI on the server have each been tweaked several times as the player population increases to keep everyone on their toes, without overcrowding the map.

I whole-heartedly recommend this server for anyone who wants to have some fun with a great bunch of people without having to worry too much about the kind of player that takes things too seriously and cries about it for 2 hours in side chat.

Friendly server that has some nice people in it. Would be great to have a bit more so that we can have nice big picnic with our... guns. Just keep out of my base! I'm a bit trigger happy...

If you are looking a server with pvp/pve aspect then this is your server. At least in my opinion the best Bornholm server there is.

Can i write a review on my own server? Seems a little biased but here goes...

    Consistency

The other major difference between our server and most others is our consistency. Again, easily overlooked and under-appreciated but something that I feel is fundamental to finding a good Exile server. As fans for the genre and having experienced it many times, we often found "good servers" on Exile and previous similar mods, getting quickly established and comfortable in our new homes, only to find them quickly shut down - often with no notice and after much investment (time/donations/effort etc).

    Administration

If our favourite servers didn't shut down after the second quarters invoice was received, we often found ourselves starting to gradually question the administration of servers. Either a major change in provision/content was made, or rules were massively adjusted to adopt a different style of play or some 18 year old admin would be appointed that you would just *know* wasn't throwing straight dice! Whatever the reason we often would gradually become more and more aware that something wast right in the background - integrity is rare. We have just a few admin (Presently 5),  mostly for in-game support, but they are monitored and reviewed regularly and we aim to appoint more based on activity and conduct when needed. All of our admins are trusted known individuals who are over the age of 30 with a bit of life experience and aren't as prone to tantrums. We are fair and operate rely heavily on our sense of integrity and common sense.

    Rules

Again another overlooked thing but something we've spent a lot of time thinking and discussing and something we try not to drastically change but are always open to feedback on. We try to offer as few rules as possible (to keep it simple!) but the rules we do have are based around common sense and put in place for the good of the community and server as a whole.

    Content

We don't overload on content but we do like to have as much variety and quality content that benefits the game experience. We try to adopt a policy of not relying too heavily on 3rd party mods or making too many hoops for players to jump through. Presently players dont need any mods but, if they use the Enhanced base mod they can also add new and interesting structures and expansions to their bases. If not, they can still join without problems!

We do try to use server side scripts to add new features and aim to contractually develop the server to keep people playing and coming back.
