Step by step Guide for dummies request
taikonaut replied to Masterking's question in Ask a Game Server Provider
Won't get much more better than this step by step guide mentioned above. You still need to have a basic understanding of running a server, forwarding ports etc. And a lot of time. -

What do you mean by "scenario"? An Arma3 Server running Exile? -
I was wondering as well. If you did them by yourself, kudos.

Yet another approach, if you're tech savvy and willing to invest some more time... Get a frickin' beasty linux machine for the same cash. Run windows in a virtual machine. Profit. Works great for me, and I'm far from being a tech-pro. You'll have to cope with the iptables and interfaces stuff. But that's just all one google search away.

I wish they would keep more true to the community aspect and release more of their amazing stuff...

Yes awesome idea. I think vehicles should be in fact free to be bugged in safezones. There should be a way for the vehicle owner to detect that bug... if he's got a mobile phone as well, with a certain chance per "ping to tracker".

Arma is a bitch, regarding FPS. There are so many factors going into the FPS. Often people forget to take server FPS into account, which may be ruining your machines FPS, regardless of how beastly the setup is. If the server FPS is low, you are not going to have good FPS on your machine either. A friend of mine has a killer machine. i7 6400 something, superfast RAM, 1080 something GPU... still, even on singleplayer ARMA, he won't get past 60 FPS. Basically you will profit a lot from a good CPU, then a good GPU. I switched from i5 2500k to i7 6400, retaining the GPU and it gave me a FPS boost of 15-20 frames. On the other hand I talked to people updating in a similar way with much less gains. So...

Join any Exile Chernarus server that uses CUP Terrain. The PBO will be downloaded to your local machine on joining. If you don't know where to find the mission pbo, google it. It's somewhere located at your user directories. Un-PBO it, examine it and learn from it. Then modify and build your own. That's the best way to do it, imho. And to actually learn a bit about the mission stuff.

1000$... lol. Get a beasty Linux machine and you´re good to go for less than 60-80 € per month. TS and website included. Scale up to 2-4 servers and you´re still at 300 € max.

Yeah, really annoying. I ran into that a couple of days ago. I think it's one of the first of the download-links, but I'm not sure right now. Should be fixed super quickly but it's that way since 1.0 release. (is it? just pulling this out of my behind here)

Eeek! Thanks! That fixed it. I guess it ended up there, when I was actually running a corrupt exile-mod. (downloaded from the UK-mirror, I think)
-
Well... I downloaded the client files from every single link provided in the download section. All unpacked without errors.

No infistar. No mods, no BattlEye. No nothing. Just a ban. I found something about corrupted @Exile data... could this be the problem? I redownloaded it from this site and it unpacked without any errors.

So, I´m updating to Exile 1.0 and building up a local test server. Completely vanilla, with no mods what so ever. BattlEye disabled. Trying to connect... banned. I've setup so many servers, but now I`m a bit clueless. Any suggestions? (nothing special in the RTP log)
