I like the idea, and it could possibly be expanded on in the future. I'm not quite sure if I want to know that my base is being raided while I'm at work, but for when I'm home it would be convenient.

These are some innovative and fresh ideas. I love it. I imagine you already thought about this, but the android/iphone app should have a feature to group your clan/family members as well. With a simple chat or messaging feature, you could organize your flag defense by asking other members to log on if they are available Sorry if it's already suggested, but I didn't read the thread

Great work guys.

regarding the deletion of dissenting comments

Eh.. it was a joke. I thought it would be easy to spot. You're doing a teriffic job, and I love physical pop tabs -

I for one find it unacceptable for a mod in the making to try out new things. Who do these developers think they are? It's like living in a stronghold of fascism. Physical pop tabs will make a lot of players feel unsafe and an easy target for cyber bullies. As a person who was once robbed by a guy with a knife, it's not just inconvenient to risk losing all your e-monies when travelling to the traders to buy my 5th chopper of the evening, it's a disempowering. Also, my ingame character has a minority background, so this is also racist. -
Wow, look at that sledgehammer swing animation.

Looks great. Simple and pretty much exactly how I pictured it would be.

No pixels were harmed. Besides, we are already playing a game that "trivializes" war, a very serious real life issue. Grow some balls.

No, no, no. I like to check in on the progress there. -
[SOLVED] CHANGERS TO THE POP TABS
Toolshed replied to [SAS] Reaper's topic in Constructive Criticism
Physical currency is the best change ever. The base Exile mod gives a little bit feeling of progress. You need to get money for the flag and work your way up to the top tier helis, cars etc. But most servers advertise with throwing 20k poptabs at you straight from the first parachute, high loot+++ settings where you'll be fully geared 5 minutes after a spawn and free welcome building crates with flag, safe, walls and everything you need for a base. It's absurd. It removes any trace of challenge provided by the base mod. With physical currency, you'll plan your route to the heli trader more carefully. Your kills can bring in a jackpot instead of the same high tier gear everyone wears. Failure matters more. The only downside I see, is abuse by duping, excessive trader camping, butthurt players raging over trader camping and losing 100k poptabs because Arma crashed while in a chopper. -
EU Directive - Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations
Toolshed replied to ka0s's topic in Constructive Criticism
Yet another pointless EU-directive from the Eurotollah's in Brussels. -
I have given up on UAV's ever since it gets hijacked while i switch between turret and uav control and then i lose it. Earlier i used to be able to enjoy it for at least 20 minutes but these days it's hijacked within 2 minutes.

[Poll] Would you play on a First-Person-Only Server on Exile?
Toolshed replied to SkeeLoY's topic in General Discussion
I would love to see 1st person servers. I played a bit on Urban Rejects server but it was barely 20 players active there. It's a totally different game in 1st person. You can effectively hide, encounters play out a lot more natural. -
^^ No, I'm serious. I do know about the waypoint thing, and I have been kicked for programming it to a certain height, but I have experienced at least 10 times where I could not control the UAV itself but I stuck with it all the way to see where it landed. 5-6 out of those times it landed on a base and my view was cut the moment they packed it all up. It could not have been accidental, because the guys who took it bragged about it in side chat. Which resulted in a 2 week long campaign where me and my group did nothing but attacking their base, hehe

I have no idea how, but I have had my UAV hijacked while in mid air lots of times to the point where I find it useless. This happens for some reason when i swap between UAV view and player view. And even though the UAV is controlled by the hi-jacker, I can sometimes still access the bottom 360 camera and follow to see where the UAV lands.

I haven't tried other servers with Ryan's mod, but I am playing om Maca's CCG dev server (donator access) and I have to say, they have managed to make the zeds work fairly well. I'd say better than Arma 2, but Arma 2's zeds were not exactly excellent either. Other then the zeds, the dev server doesn't really offer much new except for some details such as nicely made trader zones. There's still some issues with the spawning but I think it will work out. I wouldn't want the base Exile mod to include this though. It's more of a custumizatiobn thing.

I disagree. First of all, this is more of an issue for the servers and not the base mod. On servers where thermals are removed completely, noone has more advantage than the snipers. It is also very easy to counter UAV's by simply hiding under trees or in a building. A lone wolf with a UAV has to leave himself exposed to danger when controlling a UAV to look around. If you are in a group, one player will be occupied with the UAV and will stay out of close combat. Without thermals, the UAV is far from OP. You need to stay 2-300 meters high to avoid anyone hearing it, and it's not that easy to spot players without thermals. On top of that, they are easily shot down and you lose them all the time.
-
I sort of like the idea, but a problem that will definitely occur when you introduce a feature like this is that a lot of players will just use (reinforced) walls in front of their doors to block the entrance instead.
-
Realism is good, but only to a certain extent. People will simply stop playing if their base is gone or raided every time they log on.

The voting system is terrible. In my opinion, a survival game needs nighttime and day/night-cycle. Arma 3 looks fanastic at night. The only thing worse than a voting system are servers with no night at all. Just 12 'o clock noon casual PVP all day, every day.. I voted night for 3-4 months every time on my old epoch serrver but it never ever happened. With a voting system nobody cares to prepare for night so when the vote comes they vote no even if they usually like it. Nothing kills immersion like going back and forth between night and day like a disco. On servers where it was implemented in Epoch you never got the time to actually use the darkness. You geared up, travelled to a rivaling base to do a night attack but before you got to fire a shot it suddenly was full sun at noon again. with a voting system you get situations like that because it can turn night at any moment. You can't plan anything or use the darkness With a day/night cycle players know night is coming in XX minutes and prepare accordingly with NVG's.

Go to your profile in the Arma 3 menu and equip your character witth diving goggles. Then you will spawn wilth them and see clearly in deep water.
