I spent some time watching some Video's on Youtube and I can see some players Radar locking "R" green targets. So somehow someones figured out how to make it work. This video is just a tiny example of it.

Just to confirm you can "R" Lock another someone on your team (independent) in wasteland? How do the tracks show up in your radar window...color wise? There are a 3 faction system in place already in Arma 3. The issue is players in Exile are all lumped on one team already. Z80CPU has it right about there is already a difficult system in place to bypass. As he stated there has to be a all or none. Not completely true given the nature of Arma in it current form, but I'd gladly take all to hamstring the abilities of top end vehicles to only allowing optical locks. I'll take the risk of hitting a ally any day of the week over not being able to acquire a lock on a opponent. Making things worse with thermals disabled it makes target acquisition even more difficult.

Sad to see no responses other then (Arma isn't smart enough) for a way to fix this.

A perfect example of the problem presented itself tonight. A pair of newer players in the cheap LZ-39s were causing havoc on the server. AA vehicles were called in to defend. Even with a Fairly decent pilot, the million tab Tigris and Cheetahs are are a huge disadvantage (not to mention the poor Tunguska) against these inexpensive "rocket" jets. Main times the jets could dive in begin firing and the gunners of the AA couldn't return fire till after the attacks ordnance was hitting or about to and they attack aircraft had begun to pull up. Odd how the hand held Titans begin locking yet the "pinnacle" AA vehicles systems cant?!

I think the first thing that's being misunderstood is if we have a concern about locking a "friend or family member". 90% of us would gladly give up the chance to hit a ally for the 100% chance to lock on to a enemy (player). That's what we would like to see. Everyone can target everyone. For the moment you can not target anyone (save for White contacts ie AI) unless you look directly at them in your vehicle then hit T. We aren't concerned who is on whose team if Player A is friendly with player B. The game does seem to be able to already tell if someone is on your "team/group", at least how it visually represents this. We've tested it more then a few times. I"m in a AA veh and my "friend" is in a Helo. He shows up as green triangle and can not be radar locked (R). The moment I invite him to a party his radar track becomes Blue. Still same issue with locking of course but it shows Arma can tell at least when your in a group with someone. EVEN then again if there is a way to switch from all to none, we'd happy take ALL. We don't need to game to stop friendly fire for us, good communication, visual Identification and trigger control do that already. The only time this would be needed is in the autonomous system UAVs etc, but that a separate issue. Pardon if we are going round and round on this I appreciate your assistance. If there is a script that make everyone "lockable" or a mod I'd sure like to test it. Thank you again!

That what we were afraid of. Our testing showed it was just a limitation of the system and how "teams" are set. As to the"BUT, what if another player is targeting YOU while YOU are targeting some other player (remember, there are only 2 sides with 3 players)? WHOOPS! The WHOLE PLAN FAILS!" part this can be alleviated a little with 1 grouping/family-ing with them "they radar icon becomes blue so the game can tell that your on the same (side)" and also using communication systems like discord etc. We were just wondering if it was something just missed like something in the script being changed form a 0 to a 1 or something if if the issue was totally tied in with the 2 team problem. Pretty much confirms to us the advance locking veh's aren't as useful in a player vs player capacity as some of the cheaper ones that just need an optical lock. Thank you for the info.

I'm sure someone has asked this before, but I would like to see if I can get some info about this. We are running a full militarized server. Often we have encounters where vehicles with radar are used. My question is as anyone figured out a way to allow Radar locking (R) Enemy contact(s). IE other players. While it is easy to lock the "white" AI contacts using the radar systems it seem you can only lock other players with a optical lock (T). Its abit frustrating trying to cover your team with a AA veh and you can only (R) lock the annoying AI Blackhawk near by, all the while an enemy (player) Jet comes diving in for a bombing run. This is even worse if you spent a good deal of money on a Jet yourself and your attempting to lock on to a annoying nimble player veh. I know this is because the other players on the map are "faction ed" with you and show up as green (friendly) tracks, I was hoping there was a script or something to help with this. Thanks in advance for any help on this.
